Here is my list of 'quick picks' for horn web sites if you are just getting started:

Moosewood Hornists' Requisites-- great mouthpieces and other horn accessories

Thompson Edition, Inc--order their book of unabridged orchestral excerpts for horn.  It is expensive, but well worth it.  You will never need another excerpt book.  Scroll to the bottom of the 'what's new' page to read about it.

The International Horn Society-- the best way to keep updated with what's going on in the horn world.

Dr. John Q. Ericson's Horn Articles on Line page-- An excellent resource for not only general horn information, but articles he has published in the Horn Call and elsewhere.  Definitely check it out if you are writing a paper on the horn.

hornplayer.net--Links, horns for sale listings, archives, and teacher data base--a great resource.

Julia Rose's Horn Page--She has made available notes she took at master classes given by various famous musicians including Arnold Jacobs, plus the audition lists of many of the best orchestras and opera orchestras in the country.

Hornplanet.com-- Lots of information, links, and a 'store' to buy Thomas Bacon's CD's and sheet music.  In particular check out the CyberHorn Museum (under the "hornpage" icon).  Tons of great information and resources if you are doing horn research.

I am the horn editor for the open directory project (www.dmoz.org). Rather than duplicate all the sites I have added to the horn category, here are links to specific horn subcategories that you can browse:

General Horn Web Sites       Horn Ensembles        Horn Manufacturers        Horn Organizations      Players' Sites

If you have a web site you would like to submit to the open directory project, please go to www.dmoz.org
